Hi. Great to meet you, my name is Shadow and this is my story from my perspective.

casadecompai_shadow_full_image I am a Dominican dog, and like many Dominicans I am not exactly sure how old I am but I don’t think I am very old. I used to live on the streets, but that can be a hard life and when I had puppies, I decided it was time to get my life in order and back on track. The question was, where could I go, and how could I find just the right human who would treat me well.

I had heard local doggy gossip that an American had moved into town, and was building some pretty cool condos, in fact very cool. There was also a swimming pool and great beds to lounge on during the day which would suit me perfectly. But I had also heard that this American, whose name was John, had always said he did not want a dog durning construction, so it was a question of being pretty smart. And smart is one thing I definitely am.

I waited until he arrived back at Casa De Compai in his car, with a friend of his in the car, and as soon as the car door opened, I jumped in. Giving my biggest pleading puppy eye expression and wagging my tail as fast as it would go, John gave me some food and off I scooted back to my puppies. Part one of the plan had worked!

I thought I would give him a few days to start missing me, because I know how the minds of humans work, and a few days later I went back to Casa De Compai. The gate was open just a little bit so I snuck in and my food and water were waiting! I just knew he would be a big softie. I went back and forwards for a week or so, until all my puppies had been taken to homes, and then it was time for the big move, to my forever home. I went back to Casa De Compai and this time I never left.

I must say that John sure knows how to treat a girl. He got me a cute leash, so I could go with him on the beach and to the bar, and guess what, I had a full make over including grooming, hair cut and getting rid of those pesky fleas and ticks. I had no idea I could be so beautiful! John then did something I am grateful for although it was a bit painful at the time, and he had me ‘fixed’ so no more puppies for me, which is a good thing as puppies can wear a dog out. He also got all my shots done so I am perfectly fit and healthy and in tip top condition.

My life now is absolutely fabulous but I don’t want you to think I just lie around all day doing nothing! John may think he runs Casa De Compai but I am in charge of security. I keep an eye on the gate all the time and also if John goes out I often go with him to make sure he behaves himself. I haven’t told him, but I adore our long walks on the beach in the morning and our car journeys and especially going to the bars where I can sit and listen to all of the gossip.

During construction of our fabulous new condos I helped the workers hauling buckets of cement up high, by pulling the rope and I am also in charge of guest service making sure the guests are happy and have everything they need. I go and visit them, especially when they are eating, but only if they don’t mind and I greet all the guests when they arrive and show them around Casa De Compai. They know if they want a dog to play fetch with them I am more than happy to oblige.

casadecompai_shadow_table I also work as a lifeguard patrolling the pool to make sure everyone is safe although I don’t actually jump in because I don’t like to swim, but at the first sign of any problems I alert the staff.

As you can probably tell, I am a bit of a superstar, but I still have my paws firmly on the ground, so if you want to meet me just come on down and stay at Casa De Compai or like my Facebook page to keep up with all my adventures.
