First of all I want to make sure I am very clear about John and his property; no matter what you read, hear from him or via the web it is an understatement. Casa De Compai is literally a diamond in the ruff right near everything you need. With only being 3 minutes walking distance from the popular Europa Bar, Sosua Lights nightclub, Super Pola Marketplace, and Caribe money exchange you cannot go wrong. In addition to the rooms and amenities is the atmosphere, but what really sells this place is the location of the property and the professionalism of the owner, staff, guest, and more importantly the quietness of the surrounding area. I can’t explain it, but once you walk inside the gate it’s like you are not even in Sosua. It’s really like you are at home, or at a resort just enjoying the weather, overlooking the pool, and drinking a beer (which I still owe John by the way). What I need you to know is I take things very seriously when it comes to spending my money. Before deciding on Casa De Compai I thoroughly did my research on the property and owner. I checked out the AirBnb reviews, (Hidden by Airbnb) , TripAdvisor, (Hidden by Airbnb) Maps, his website, and blog before deciding to even consider spending my money and doing business with him. Mind you the stay was not breaking the bank or anything, but this is how seriously I take doing business with someone regardless of the amount. Even after all this I was not sold. What sold me was when I actually met John. Aside from the property being excellent; the fact that John showed sincerity, appreciation for and toward his employees goes to show you the true character of a person. In addition the great things his employees said about him were out of this world. They truly valued him as an employer and had nothing, but great things to say that further added my conviction that I was vacationing at the right property. Here is really the part that shows character. John personally drove me to the Super Pola market, took me to the Caribe money exchange, showed me where the gym was located, and also gave me a rundown of the strip, bars, clubs, beaches and places to get good food. Now please understand that this is not included in the package, but the fact that he was so passionate and even willing goes to show a great deal on his character, which you visually see in and on the property. It’s really a part of him, but as I said don’t expect to be chauffeured. I was just at the right place at the right time. You may notice in this review I do not speak much on the insides of the unit or accommodations. The truth is there is no point because as I said the pictures, reading John’s descriptions, or even speaking to him will not do it justice. While I was there I saw the pool being maintained and cleaned, beds getting additional support, and even when I wanted to have a farewell with John he was in Santiago handling business and purchasing items to add on and make the property better. He is the prime exactly that if you do what you love you will not have to work a day in your life. The only issue I ever encountered with the property was having to leave, but the great thing is I know I have a home when I come back to visit.
